Going Dark

Going Dark

Are you aware of the growing concerns among European law enforcement about people going dark? The so-called High Level Group (HLG) of the EU is actively working to undermine end-to-end encryption, pushing for backdoor access to encrypted messaging, email, and cloud platforms. These measures are justified as "lawful access by design" to fight crime, an approach that directly contradicts the principle of "privacy by design" embraced by many secure digital platforms. In reality, they undermine the privacy and security of everyone. The European Digital Rights network (EDRi) has dissected the critical flaws in this approach: https://edri.org/?s=going+dark

If you haven’t gone dark yet, now is the time to push back.

This installation includes a video guide, a live demo, and a step-by-step tutorial for configuring a Raspberry Pi 4 as a USB Ethernet Gadget: a portable router that sits between your computer and the internet. It filters outbound traffic, blocks ads and trackers, and spoofs your device identity to enhance privacy. It can also route all your internet traffic through a VPN or the anonymizing Tor network. The video itself demonstrates the process of “Going Dark” while introducing the Raspberry Pi Ethernet Gadget as a tool for digital self-defense. It reflects on Big Tech, techno-fascism, and surveillance capitalism, blending practical guidance with political commentary.
