Für das HackThePromise Festival 2025 suchen wir Workshops, Vorträge, Podien, Live-Performances, Filme und andere künstlerische und diskursive Beiträge – mit welchen wir ein spannendes interdisziplinäres Programm sowie eine Ausstellung über 3 Tage zusammenstellen.
Es stehen Zeitfenster von 30, 45, oder 60 Minuten zur Verfügung. Zusätzlich gibt es Raum für Installationen, für Performances, für einen «Marktstand» im Hacking Market.

Vergütung: Das HackThePromise-Festival ist auf das Gemeinwohl ausgerichtet und das Budget begrenzt. Für Kunstinstallationen können wir Spesen (teilweise auch für die Produktion) bezahlen. Das restliche künstlerische Programm vergüten wir je nach Möglichkeit, dazu prüfen wir auf Anfrage gern Unterstützung bei Reisekosten und Unterkunft. Für Details kannst du dich gerne bei uns melden.
Worum geht es?
Das HackThePromise Festival beleuchtet die uns versprochenen digitalen Utopien aus künstlerischer, gesellschaftlicher, politischer und technischer Sicht. Das Thema 2025: Hacking Systems, Hacking Futures!
Dieses Jahr geht es am HackThePromise um Hacking als sozio-technische Praxis – Aufbrechen, Umverdrahten, Zukünfte erproben. Hacking nicht nur für Computer-Spezialisten, sondern auch als Denkweise, um gesellschaftliche Strukturen zu ändern.
Hacken bedeutet nicht nur, in Systeme einzudringen – es bedeutet, sie aufzubrechen. Es geht darum, Einschränkungen zu hinterfragen, vorgegebene Strukturen neu zu denken und so Möglichkeitsräume zu öffnen – sei es in Technologie, Politik, Wissenssystemen oder gesellschaftlichen Kontexten. Das Ziel: Machtverhältnisse herauszufordern und neue Zukünfte jenseits aufgezwungener Begrenzungen zu erproben.
Du bearbeitest diese Themen künstlerisch, in der Bildung, journalistisch, du entwickelst und forschst mit Daten oder regulatorischen Ansätzen?
Dokumentierst du mit Filmen, Texten, künstlerischen Recherchen die wachsende Macht von grossen Techfirmen, die Art und Weise, wie sie unsere Realität algorithmisch prägen? Engagierst du dich für Anonymität, für die Vielfalt digitaler Identitäten oder Netzzugang und kannst diese Arbeit in einer spannenden Präsentation oder in einem Workshop mit einem auch breit interessierten Publikum teilen? Dann wollen wir mehr erfahren von deiner Arbeit, dann wollen wir dir eine Plattform und ein Forum geben.
Zugangsbeschränkungen sind oft nicht technischer, sondern sozialer Natur, sei es in Bildung, Gesundheitswesen oder Politik. Das heisst aber auch, dass sie gehackt werden können. Künstlerische und spekulative Eingriffe zeigen uns, dass Hacking auch eine Frage der Imagination ist: Wer bestimmt, wie wir uns unsere Zukunft vorstellen dürfen? Hacking heisst, die Schlupflöcher, die Glitches, die improvisierten Spielräume zu finden – und vor allem neue Formen des Handelns zu erschaffen.

For the HackThePromise Festival 2025 we are looking for workshops, lectures, panels, live performances, films and other artistic and discursive contributions – with which we will put together an exciting interdisciplinary program and an exhibition over 3 days.
Time slots of 30, 45 or 60 minutes are available. There is also space for installations, performances and a “market stall” in the Hacking Market.

Compensation: HackThePromise is a community-oriented festival with a limited budget. For art installations, we can cover expenses and, depending on the project, also contribute to production costs. For other artistic contributions, we aim to provide financial support where possible, and we’re happy to discuss covering travel and accommodation if needed.

What is this about?
HackThePromise – Festival for Digitality, Art and Society is now looking for artistic projects, prototypes, workshops, panels, performances, and other artistic and research contribution to make up its three days program and exhibition.
We are happy to announce the theme of the third edition of the festival: Hacking Systems, Hacking Futures!
This year, we explores hacking as a socio-technical practice, moving beyond its typical association with computer specialists. Hacking isn’t just about penetrating systems – it means opening them up to challenge and change societal structures.
Whether it’s technology, politics, knowledge, or social systems, hacking aims to disrupt power dynamics and imagine new futures beyond imposed limitations.
Hacking is breaking open, rewiring and experimenting. As authoritarianism gain influence globally and increasingly align with the wealthiest tech corporations: who decides how we are allowed to imagine our future? And how can we hack – systems to imagine alternative – futures?
More and more people are taking matters into their own hands finding loopholes, glitches, improvised spaces for resistance. Meanwhile, artistic and speculative interventions remind us that hacking is a form of imagination.
You work on these topics through art, education, journalism, or data and regulatory research? You document the growing power of big tech companies and how they algorithmically shape our reality – through films, texts, or artistic investigations? You engage in anonymity, diverse digital identities, or internet access – and can present your work in a way that’s compelling for a broad audience?
Then we want to hear from you and offer to a platform to your artistic projects, prototype, workshop, talk, film, performance, and other artistic or research-based contribution.
