Engineering, activism, ethics, and art as tools for hacking futures

The future is what we make it, and there are a lot of fun and exciting ways to influence it! In this talk + instillation, I will show artworks and performances which I have used to try and sway the direction the future takes. Technology has a profound influence on the future, and my work utilizes engineering and technology as both a medium and as a topic for investigation. The work sometimes takes the form of subversive robots, self-destructing machines, space programs, or fake companies. I will also share my experiences with using activism to steer us towards a future of increased freedom and peace. Ethics is an integral part of the process, with the overall goal of building a better, more fair future for us all. This firm moral grounding provides a constant guiding light to a future that is much more utopian than our current trajectory suggests.
