ella hebendanz

ella hebendanz (DE, 1997) is a transmedia artist, designer, technologist, film and performance maker exploring the art-sciences to create audio-visual experiences. Their work centers the corporeal, carnal, erotic, and their research begins at the peripheries of our bodies. A time traveler, ella positions their practice in between analog and digital and works across video, sound, graphic design, poetry, porn and performance. From nocturnal daydreams to mad thoughts on hell and desire, their mind is troubled with questions on how to escape a violently binary system, challenge the status quo of a world that is collapsing, free our bodies, and shift art into activism.
In 2021, they graduated from the BA Interactive/Media/Design at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague. During their studies, they co-founded the cyber-feminist collective sWitches and explored the intersection of witchcraft and technology. ella has an ongoing collaborative practice with pamela varela, and in 2023, they won the BAD Award for their artistic-scientific research project re-c(O)unting. Recently they have pursued an MA in the performance practice program Live Art Forms at the Academy of Fine Arts, Nuremberg. They have exhibited their work at art spaces, museums, and festivals across Europe and in 2024 they had their debut in Mexico.
